Jam Dance

Jam Dance is a safe program for helping communities learn how to mix and play with people who have different abilities, brains and bodies.   It is a gently facilitated improvisation that shares power and validates each person.   Through engaging with each other as we are, we can discover the authentic sounds and gestures of each person and we can play with that.

We often do this with help from live musicians who listen to the sounds that emerge from the group and support with their instruments.  Like any jam, we never know what exactly will come out.  That leap into the unknown is part of the fear but also part of the fun and a big part of the joy as the group literally creates new “living” music together

Jam Dance is inspired by the work of Alana Shaw from Turning The Wheel Productions in Boulder Colorado, USA.  See:  https://www.turningthewheel.org/
