Biodiversity is nature’s way. It is far healthier and more resilient than monoculture. It includes all living beings -plants, animals, humans in this intricate web of Life.
Many good people have been working for a long time to help us have inclusive, diverse, integrated communities. They are passionate about justice for those who have been excluded and marginalized by our dominant culture. They have worked hard at this for decades, but many communities still suffer the economic setbacks caused by class, racism, stigma and exclusion. How can we, together, change this for the good of all?
We are naturally diverse! Look around and notice the goodness, diversity and creativity of our people. We come in all shapes and sizes. Some are quick witted and sharp as a tack. Some are slow yet perceptive. Some missing a few cards, some friendly and helpful. We each think in different ways.
This makes us resilient and strong. We can look for the gifts in each person. We can build on this we can do a lot of good things together. We can integrate all our gifts and thrive in ways we might never have imagined if we do not make time to show up and play each other.
Play helps us integrate. Here is a short talk by Dr. Lois Holzman illustrating the revolutionary power of play. Click here to watch short video
